The much awaited iPad mini was launched on October 23rd. This all new version of the iPad has replaced the heavier and chunkier iPad3. The new iPad mini is slimmer, lighter and thinner and the design will sweep your heart away the instant you hold it in our hands. Let’s have a closer look at its specifications.
The iPad Mini has a screen size of 7.9 inches that is larger than the other tablets available in the market. The screen is made of anodized aluminum and glass and has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels which is sharper than its predecessors. However, there is one feature that will surely amaze you. The screen is programmed to actually determine that whether you are using your thumb over the screen or its just resting on the screen.
The design of the iPad mini is quite similar to the recently launched iPhone 5. It weighs only 0.68 pounds and is 7.2 mm thin.
The iPad mini comes with a lot of connectivity options. Apart from the usual options of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, some models also have LTE connectivity but then they are a little expensive than the usual ones. The lightening port is also present like in all the latest models by the company.
The iPad mini has a dual-core A5 processor that makes it faster along with 512 MB RAM. However, one is a little unsure about the exact amount of RAM at the moment but the other tablets in the market are packed with 1GB of RAM that may not work in its favour.
Just like all the previous models of iPads, the new iPad mini is also available in three different models with varying internal storage i.e. 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.
The iPad mini contains a lithium-polymer rechargeable battery. According to apple it is capable enough to sufficiently operate for ten hours even when you use it to surf the net over a Wi-Fi connection, watch videos or listen to music.
The new iPad mini does not disappoint you on this front as well. It is equipped with a Face Time HD camera which is better than the previous ipads. It is also integrated with Face detection technology and has a sensor on its rear side. The rear camera of 5 megapixel will let you capture your precious moments.
Price and availability
If you were thinking that the new iPad mini would be priced somewhere around $250, then you are sure to get disappointed. The entry level price for the 16GB Wi-Fi version is $329. On the other hand, models with 32GB and 64GB of storage cost $429 and $529 respectively. In case you are looking for the option of LTE connectivity as well then it will put an extra burden of $130 on your pocket.

However, there is still no confirmation by the apple about its availability in other parts of the world but one can expect it to release in the coming month.
