iPad 3 vs. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

Soon after the market release of the new Apple iPad 3, people began making fresh interesting comparisons between the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Looking from the angle of a technical professional, the comparison is quite interesting and also striking. The two devices brought along many promises and offered great features. Both lived up to the expectations of many eager and awaiting customers. There is quite a bit in common between the two devices.

The look of the iPad 3 is not very different from the iPad 2. The main difference is the newly included gesture control, which replaces the home button and hence reduces the overall weight of the device. This change is not very noticeable but is quite efficient. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is quite different from the previous Galaxy Tab. It appears that Samsung did learn quite a bit from the previous Galaxy Tab and made it a point to address all issues. There is one great boost in terms of the stretch space above its screen being smaller. There is an additional silver bezel. The iPad 3 still has better looks and physical appearance.

The hardware of the Samsung Galaxy Tab is highly suitable for running applications and games because of it being based on the Android OS called Ice Cream Sandwich. It gives its best performance each time due to its 1GHz dual- core processor. As far as the iPad 3 is concerned, there is no issue with regards to coverage of all types of media and hardware capabilities. Its new A5X processor chip came as a strong blow to all its competitors. It has graphics of quad- core, which gives it 4 times the speed of the Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset. Therefore, the iPad 3 has a clear edge over Galaxy Tab 3 with regards to hardware.

The Apple cameras are far ahead of the Samsung ones in all aspects. The iPad 3 has a 5 megapixels and a rare-facing camera while the Galaxy Tab only has 3.15 megapixels and a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. To give it an advantage over the Galaxy Tab 2, the new iPad also has other features including geo- tagging, touch focus and face detection. These leave the Samsung cameras far behind the Apple ones.

The iPad 3 has a spectacular Retina Display that has impressed quite a lot of its audience. It has a 9.7 inches LED- backlit touch screen having a 2048 x. 1536 pixels resolution and 246 pixels per inch. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 has a 10.1 inches PLS TFT touch screen with a pixel density of 1280 x 800 pixels.

The Galaxy Tab has an edge in terms of its memory storage over the iPad 3. It can take up to 32GB of memory card slots, which is not available in the new iPad. Both these devices have an internal memory of 16 or 32 GB and have a 1GB RAM. The external memory in the Galaxy Tab is quite an advantageous feature in it.
